Lockdown 2:0 Plan
We are living in strange times and now more than ever the importance of our health and wellbeing is at the fore of people’s minds and if it isn’t it should be. Since I had children my reason for exercising and eating a balanced and nutritious diet has been to hopefully improve my chances of staying fit, active, and able for longer than I might otherwise. Despite what some may preach exercise and healthy eating won’t guarantee a long life, there are, as we are seeing now, curve balls that can hit us at any moment. What I am convinced by is that exercise, food, and purpose help makes us strong and resilient and gives us the best chance of coping with what life throws at us. If you want to make the most of your training through lockdown here are some tips to help.
Make a plan and stick to it – consistency is ‘THE ONLY’ secret to success.
Change your perspective on training – all movement is good. It doesn’t have to be in a gym, it doesn’t need to involve heaps of kit, you just have to do something.
Keep a training log – track your progress – how far you ran, how fast, how many press-ups you did, how much you lifted, how you felt after.
Don’t make excuses, by the time you have you could have done your workout.
Make it pleasurable – find something you enjoy and you will stick at it
Do it with a friend (whilst we are still allowed) – be accountable to someone.
(Oh and try something totally outside your comfort zone. Give yourself a challenge. My personal one has been exploring the validity of the Wim Hof Method. Cold showers are a revelation…… give them a try!)
